| All Around The World!! From the Army to BOXING!!! | |||||||||||||||||

Rex joined the Army in 1946. He served his Basic Training in Ft. Knox Kentucky. In 1947 he was transfered to Japan for Basic Training in Paratrooping. Rex's first time up, he had to jump. Rex was in the 11th Airborn Division in Japan. After trooping, he started Boxing!! March of 1947, was Rex's first fight. He won his Division Championship in Japan. Rex won the A.A.U (American Amature Association) in Boston, Massachusetts. He fought a benefit for Gene Fulmuer for his knee surgery. Needless to say, it was a success! Jersey Joe Walcott, was Rex's first BIG Fight, Rex won. In 1951, Rex fought Rocky Marciano. He went 6 Rounds and Rex got knocked out. As Rex was laying down for the count, he had no idea why the Ref was yelling 1...2...3..at him!! By the time Rex heard 10, He knew what had happened.
